Freaks in Clubs

Just what is it about clubbing (hard dance in particular) which seems to atract all the socially innept weirdos of this world?! Even at classier venues you still get a few, and at some nights you can't move without bumping into a sweaty heaving gurning mess who looks like an extra from hammer house of horror. Or the groups of 17 yr old boys with glowsticks who look like they're on day release from feltham young offenders institution.

And why is it that there are so many more of them in london clubs than elsewhere?! (hard dance nights that is, most other clubs in london tend to attract a higher standard of punter) Is it just that there are more rather strange people in London as a whole? Does anyone have any theories? Personally I blame all those Antipodeans.

It's part & parcel of clubbing I thought!! Ok you do get the odd one or two who get very messy, but dancing to music all night in a hot club, generally makes you sweaty & males have the advantage of being able to take their tops off!!

I think you get all walks of life wherever you go, be it a hardhouse/funky or cheesy club, or even the pictures, thats life!!

But it's not the same as all walks of life - there is definately something about clubbing which attracts people who perhaps don't fit in elsewhere. I wanted to know if anyone had any theories as to why. Is it the music - do certain types of music attract a certain type of personality? Or is it all purely drug related (which might explain why there are more weird people at hard house events as drug use is alot more prominent)

And there is no way you can deny that northern events do attract very different crowds to London events - but why?!?

Hmm cant comment on the north/south difference Jessica as not really been clubbing in the north, my bad!! blushing.gif

But yeh I think your right, alot of it is probably drug related & half these sweaty, babbling fools, myself sometimes w00t.gifwink.gif are probably quite normal outside of the clubbing scene!!?? unsure.gif

No not because of their faces - I'm talking about those people who will stand on the dancefloor (just stand never dance) staring at you really lechorously, or wonder around off their faces bumping into people (fucking annoying) or try and grab you as you go past etc etc. How come if I go to a funky night the problem is nowhere near as bad? And I think it is getting worse, I don't remember it being like this when I first started clubbing - are bouncers more complacent with overly mashed people now? Or has hard house become so bad that the only way to listen to it is to get completely off your face? Or am I just looking through rose-tinted glasses?

It could be to do with all the different chemicals being used in clubland now?? Before it was mainly base & E, occassionally acid, but we have so much floating about now, Ketamin, GB, Happy 5's, mushrooms etc etc & some people mix these chemicals & drink too, which is possible a reason why so many are hammered, I cant comment on the difference between clubs & genres, but maybe your right, some people find certain chemicals enhance the music etc unsure.gif

I think people doing (too much) ket and GB is a contributing factor, and I don't think I've ever seen anyone in a K-hole at a house night. But then again, people can get in pretty bads staes just doing pills.

Steph, Happy5's are (apparently) a prescriptive drug, some kind of tranquliser. I don't know anyone who does them but apparently they are the 'next big thing'. Personally I don't want to go to club full of people on tranqulisers!!
