can't really comment on whether the people are different in terms of 'weirdness' depending on the type of style of music that is being played at the event is, as ive only really been to events on the more harder edge of the scale to be honest

 

but its true about the afterparties being especially strange in some cases tend to see more freaky, fucked up people in there... maybe its because of the type of crowd such an event attracts... whether it be the venue, or the style of music or whatever else... or perhaps the timing of the afterparties [ obviously being after, and thus late® on ] allows people more time to get themselves well and truely fucked enough, to be so freaky and fucking twatish at the afterparty events ... or it could just be 'normal' behaviour for them i guess .... but it will always be around in clubs, no matter what steps are taken to remove it, as theres always going to be a new way, or new bunch / generation of people that come along and start the whole feckin' cycle off again

Its def true about afterparties in London - at Twist every time I go it looks like half of them in the place have been let loose out the looney bin for sunday morning Its a shame coz I love the music in there but the people are def WEEEEEEEEEEIRD The same with 414 tho been a very long time since I went there now!

At Tidy w/enders and Northern events you dont seem to get nearly as many weirdos, its not jsut about whether people are good looking or not, its that most of these blokes dont seem to be there coz there into the scene - jsut seem to go there as its somewhere to act weird at the w/end I'm also pretty sure with a lot of them its not jsut down to the drugs too - when I use to go camden there was a few there that was actually head cases anyway and had actually been in institutions in the past, there most prob is a link to people like that taking drugs but as Jess said cant understand why its just in London you get 'em!

Rick, I agree that letching posers aren't much more fun to party with either. However, methinks there's a happy medium...?

 

I'm not saying "all people who go to hard house nights are freaks".

I'm just saying "most of the freaks of the dance scene are drawn to hard house".

 

Note how most afterparties revolve around hard house.

Andy speaks sense yet again. I know from when I was into metal and punk, the scene would draw all sorts of strange people, mainly because of the philosophy behind it about standing out and being different from everyone (even though they all end up looking exactly the same, but thats another topic..) although I know alot of people who would pretend they were really weird or fucked up just because they thought it was cool. Cutting yourself and showing off the scars to everyone is a good example of this, and was very fasionable at my school.....

 

And althoughmy comment 'I blame all the antipodeans' was intended as a joke (as everyone who goes clubbing in london seems to be Aussie/ Kiwi/ Saffa ) I do wonder if it is because there are alot of people from other countries at HH nights in london, and if it's a cultural thing ...... behaviour that seems perfectly normal in one culture might seem strange to us. Still doesn't explain why it's so prominent at HH nights though.........

I've always been fascinated by the way these 'rebellious' groups (rockers, goths, whatever) all appear to clones of one another, with identical appearances, tastes in music, and 'philosophies' about being 'individual'...

as long as somebody is not interfering with your experience, why would it bother you?

 

on the later issue, i agree with jessica and andy. in my experience, people who accuse others of being conformist are often, themselves, simply conforming in a different way and they are just too arrogant/whatever to admit it.
