Unfortunately a decision was made (the director was not happy about this) that the film needed to be a PG for release and as a concequence lots of the film was cut

That is shocking. I can only conclude that the decision was entirely driven by commercial reasons.

I.e.

1. More people can go to see it at the cinema

2. More people will buy the DVD because it is more explicit

I hate this whole "put extra stuff in the DVD" thing. Fair enough if they want to make more money out of gullible people who have to have the 'directors cut' with 20 seconds of exclusive extra footage... but when it's like the Lord of the Rings film (I think it was the 2nd or 3rd one) where they plan in advance to deliberately leave whole chunks out of the cinema release purely so they can sell more DVDs, you have to question why they are willing to compromise the integrity of the film for the sake of making a few extra bob.

In my small-minded black-and-white view of the matter, either the film needs those extra scenes, or it doesn't. If the film is better with the scenes, leave them in; if it's better without, leave them out. End of.

I just hope it doesn't end up like another kids movie with "monsters". Aliens one and two are brilliant. Predator is brilliant. I just hope the combination of the two isn't tarnished by an effort to make it suitable to feeble minded youths.

And yes it does look a lot like the studio were trying to maximise its "audience" (profits). Or it could be a sign that the film was crap and the studio in a last ditch attempt made it viewable by kids that wouldn't mind watching a "scary" film that's toss.

Haha, no offence Chris but I take your film critique with a pinch of salt, after your slagging-off of The Bourne Supremacy which I thought was the best film for months! wink.gif

I quite like that film. Went to watch it in cinema down Brighton on Bank Holiday - but I thought the first one is so much better !

Great actor though. throb.gif

r both the bourne films worth cing then ? ive read both the books

Yep -- both are excellent. If anything I preferred the 2nd one, but there's not a lot in it. BTW a lot has changed from the books apparently, but the films are still great in their own right.

Never heard of anyone in the cast

You might not have recognised Ron Pearlman because he's wearing a bit of make-up in the film.

The girl in Hellboy has been in quite a few films aswell...the lovely Selma Blair.

Lets not forget the BRILLIANT John Hurt.
