CTW Members Bungle Posted August 21, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted August 21, 2004 I've just had my first ever fiddle with cd decks at a lock in at a bar i used to work at. It might have something to do with the fact that I'm a bit pissed but I'm proper confused. They had a CDJ800 and a 1000 and I think I must have been a bit heavy handed cos it just wouldn't go quite right. It didn't help that I was playing with funky, which I do like and know, but haven'[t got a clue what any of the tracks are called so it involved a lot of guess work. I'm going down on monday for their open bag night to have a proper play with some 'real' tunes. I'm quite exicted really. It'll be the first time that I've played on a proper club system ( Mark 3 technics, CDJ's and DJM600). Quote Anyone fancy a bongle with bungle? The Pioneer CDJs take a bit of getting used to. The pitch controls aren't as rigid or as subtle as on Technics 1200s. Apart from that I love my CDJ-800 though. You do have to be quite subtle with the pitch bend but you do get used to it.
CTW DJs LiamStyles Posted August 22, 2004 CTW DJs Share Posted August 22, 2004 I hate the "platter" on the cdj 800's & 1000's. Ive played on them loads and have got used to it as such, just dont like the feel of them at all. CTW Members Shaney_R Posted September 5, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted September 5, 2004 I have a CDJ100 and love it as the jog is much easier ive also got my new CDJ1000 MK2 on its way 2 so ill have 2 have a fiddle and get used to it, ive had a go on the 800 before and like Liam say, im not fond of the platter, much prefer a jog wheel. 800-1000s a very touchy to i find. But thats just my opinion and am still getting 1. Quote www.faceparty.com/shaney_r Bookings/Info - www.myspace.com/shaney_r msn - punani65@hotmail.com OFFICIAL CTW AWARDS 1. Best Dj 2. CTW Members supernova Posted November 24, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted November 24, 2004 don't u think tho that cd decks takes away the whole point of djing? i mean, for instance, u get all these eejits who have got a clue how to mix, especially with vinyl, taking all the jobs in bars, and yet devoted vinyl user can't get a break! CTW Members supernova Posted November 26, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted November 26, 2004 ok, but understandably, it takes the piss a bit when u get people who can't even mix taking the jobs when there's talented people out there looking for a break. i know wot u mean about "its about the music u play" but when there's people really wanting to DJ for a living rather than a way to spend their spare time, it gets annoying. ? ? Dont want to sound harsh, or to step on dreams etc. but you really shouldn't approach djing with ideas about it being a career, doing it for a living etc - there are THOUSANDS of others out there thinking the same thing... if you take it too seriously, it will hurt a lot more when the inevitable occurs and you get screwed over (as is often the case in anything music-related)
