Yeah but those RPGs you listed are a totally different type of fish. Sort of strategic yawn fests. Not my cup of tea. I like Big eyed characters, silly villages with stupid names, Japenese humour, epic save the world before the Dark Lord of Izaro destroys it stuff. I can't see how it's a weird taste in RPGs at all. These RPGs have a massive following. Plus I don't really dig PC gaming. Only for first person shooters.

Last night, I got upto the bit where you see them on the security monitor and they are talkoing about blocking the distress signal..... that could be a good or bad thing tho - good because it stops more people arriving on mars to die, bad because we are stranded

 

those 'flaming head' things are well annoying... looked cool when it burst out of that womans face tho in the scene just before the above bit

heheh yeah, Lost Souls, they are a complete pain cos they fly at you and sorta disappear and you have to look all over the place to find em.. they are usually found floating about under your left knee looking confused

LTM likewise i find most of your epic jap top-down rpgs incredibly boring too, they all sorta melt into the same game after a while - played tales of phantasia on teh snes mind? i liked that, i'm getting tales of symphonia when i get the chance. my rpgs arent really strategy they are just in a more traditional western d&d style, which i love - the same old stats and levelling up traps of the jap rpgs tend to really piss me off

I also reckon there is something 'odd' about the character you play - the fact it keeps going all red and the freaky voices makes me thing he is somehow linked to it all, rather then just a case of 'right place at the wrong time'

I cant believe some of you are arguing about "RPG's" on computers when they AREN'T RPG's They are just computer games.

 

RPG's are games like War Hammer, Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, RavenLoft, etc, etc. Paper, pens, several dice of varying sizes (usally 4 sided, 6 sided, 8 sided, 10 sided, 12 sided and 20 sided).

yeah those visions teh player has are a buit weird and are totally unexplained, i think he's normal but hell is obviously playing tricks on him - what i was surprised is that hes so ugly, u woulda thought theyd have a good looking guy fighting

 

the chainsaw is cool too

 

im in delta labs 3 now, only 2 levels away from Hell

OK ...if you look at it like that then virtually EVERY computer game is an RPG as you are taking the role of a character....I.E. PLAYING A ROLE IN A GAME.

makes a change to be playing a character who looks 'normal', rather then someone who looks like they are probably a b-list celebrity when they are not saving the world

 

Perhaps it is just 'hell' playing tricks, but its the bit where it goes all red and strange things begin to happen (have you seen the floating bodies before - that scared the shit out of me when i first saw it happen lol)
