All the muslim faith seems to believe in is using people for its own ends.

that's a really unfortunate statement. i think that western - particularly the US - media and government have done a good job of stigmatising islam because of the acts of a few.

i have, generally speaking, a problem with organised religion but i think that it's wrong to criticise islam as a whole because of the actions of a few (or even a few hundred) muslim individuals.

i passed through barcelona this weekend - what were you up to there?

It would be nice to see/hear Muslim leaders condemn these actions and play a more positive role in the world. Maybe a fault of western media for not allowing air time for these positive actions.

"Muslim cleric condemns bombing by extremist group"

versus

"Muslims bomb a load of people"

I think I know which headline would sell more copies of the Daily Mail... smile.gif

A Muslim leader was reporteed to have said that it's unfortunate that Muslims are the perpetrators of world terrorism at the moment.

All the fundamentalists are doing is breed hatred, read what's going on with Israel and Palestine and I don't think it will be too long that worldwide views are that polarised with regards to Muslims and the West. This is remarkable seeing as a significant part of Western society consists of law abiding muslims.

The terrorists are only breeding hatred against the very people that they're supposedly fighting for.

If I had my way I'd ethnically cleanse the muslims.

What a stupid comment. Maybe someone should ethnically cleanse you?

That wouldn't solve the problem of world terrorism now would it?

True. And when you look at incidents like the Beslan hostage crisis, it actually draws attention away from the issue they are supposedly fighting for.

Are the hostage takers known as "Chechen separatists"? No, now they are just "terrorists" -- generic scum. The focus is now on what they did, not why they did it.

Apparently the Chechnya problem has been going on and on since the late 1800's when an Islmaic state was being created, to which Russia objected and stopped it from happening. Only recently has a more extreme version of terrorism been employed. All the people in Chechnya want to do is live in peace.

given that i don't know you and this is supposed to be a forum where people discuss issues seriously, i really don't have any choice but to take your comments at face value.

All the people in Chechnya want to do is live in peace.

everyone wants to live in peace, but you've got these so called 'people' *who are actually scum in my eyes* going round shooting their mouths, and guns, off at everyone else!

ie: Chechnya versus Russia

Rwanda militants versus Rwanda Government

the good ol' U.S of A. versus the world !!

you can see the problems we face when a specific government decides to change policy or restrict people from going about their normal business, we have years and years of carnage!

look what happened over in Ireland / Northern Ireland with the IRA in the 70's and 80's

look at France/Spain/Italy with their governments changing policies and the terrorists returning with "the bomb and the bullet"

i deplore any terrorist who goes to the length of what happened at Belsin.

How can you change a governments rule (or policies) by storming into a school, idnapping a load of children (THE YOUNGEST WAS ONLY SIX FOR GOD'S SAKE!!) and then killing a load of hostages by blowing the school up!

we have got to try and live in peace with one another, otherwise the next conflict with be three times as bad, and some bad motherf***er will use a nuclear device.!!!

WORLD WAR THREE ANYONE??

no.gif

right, who's for a beer.gif ?

always there for the beer, but not wanting to pay!!

I was trying to make sure that the ordinary people of Chechnya are not tarred with the same brush as the extremists.
