Event Submitters required !

If any of you know of any cool events in the UK and abroad please will you post them in the event sections and also add them to the shared Calendar - thanks ! The replies may be slow at first but we expect this to pick up as more people post suggestions - I'm sure there are many out there which we are missing.

There is a link on the top right menu of every page - 'Calendar' - you then need to click on the icon on the top left hand side - I must admit its not very clear - so I have posted the direct link below ...

 

Add a Calendar event (Private or Public)

 

Note: you can add your own private entries too which only you can see when logged in

James would there be anyway to make the Calendar a more "prominant" part of the site, like a hub from which everything this site is about revolves around?

yes that would be ideal but i'm still not sure of the best way to go about designing this - I was going to set up a dedicated events section (outside of the forums) but then decided it was nice to see the banter along with the suggestion etc..

 

still undecided on best approach mate - let me know if you have any ideas on this - cheers

James do you ever do actually CTW events, such as big meet ups to different places?

 

Maybe this is an area you could look into, get a few of us members to sort something.

 

I see Rascal is sorting something for everyone to meet for drinks, maybe more of this kind of thing?

 

Or do you you all do this anyway?

I'm afraid its currently down to the members themselves to sort out suggestions and meets but its the intention to have big official meets properly research and organised by the team to happen say once a quarter at first - it really is a question of finding people who are willing to do all this for nothing and to be able to stick at it - it shouldnt be under-estimated how much work is involved though. It would be great to see more people like Rascal arrange things like this and then later on perhaps we can set up a group and let someone lead this team / side of things.

The only idea I've come up with is having a link to the Calendar pinned to the top of each of the forums, with a "What's on" sort of tag line to it and maybe a prominant icon?

Or a link to the calendar to appear under the avatar. Not sure if that would be possible.

 

This probably wont be possible, but here goes...

 

Maybe a reminder/countdown of an event could appear under the calendar link, for those that have selected to attend an event.

Jack - some good ideas there - anything is possible but its down to time which I currently dont have but hoping to have in the future !
