Went on fine for me.  Sped things up a bit and went well with my firewall and anti virus software.

what anti virus u got ? I have norton and I think that is what is causing my problems????

seems to be very slow in starting up

I'm using McAfee, it seems to be very well intergrated with all the latest security updates that Microsoft have added.

Hmmm... doesn't sound like it's working properly. Have you tried running Defrag and the Error checking program to see if there are any errors?

Both found by right clicking on e.g. Drive C: and clicking on properties, then selecting tools.

Can't really think why it would be slow, but it does sound like something is wrong.

thanks Alex when i did what u said i cliked on to check now........

there was 2 options there

1. automatic fix file system errors

2.scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors

well i cliked on option 1 .....it said the disc check could not be preformed because the disk check utility needs exclusive access to some windows files on the disk. these files can be accessed only by restarting windows do you want to schedule this disk check to occur the next time you restart your computer????

Advise please flowers.gif

Yeah, just restart. Be warned though it takes a while, the bigger the hard disk drive the longer it'll take. So go make a cup of tea and get ready for a wait.

only if you tick option 2.

option 1 (file system errors) just checks the "contents table" - it doesn't actually check the data on the computer

option 2 makes sure you can actually access every part of the drives physical disk - so it'll take longer for a bigger drive, cos there's more to check. if it can't access some of the data because the didk is physically damaged, it will attempt to move the data to an intact part of the disk.

(scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors)

and buy a new computer. (you've had that one for more than 48 hours haven't u? tis out of date)

and install service pack 2. excited.gif
