The fact that a few people (or even a lot of people) will lose their jobs is trivial if you look at the bigger picture

I don't think people losing their jobs is trivial, I don't think anyone has the right to say that, especially to those involved.

I understand where u are coming from but I can't abide by the statistics which favour a ban on hunting. It's the usual govermental bills for votes scheme set up by the government; it may be a vote winner in middle england for those 2up/2down mondeo driving wan8ers but they fail to understand those who are really involved.

Anyway, my final stance is this....if the general public wants fox hunting banned, will they mind the rural police resources being used to enforce this law whilst neglecting more worthwhile activities of real criminals at a time when rural crime is on the increase?

The debate could go on forever no doubt, whether u think i'm right or not...

When a large corporation closes a factory with thousands loosing their jobs and whole communities being effected, a small protest is all that seems to occur.

When the Government plans to ban hunting Foxes by hounds, their is outrage from the small numbers who take part and derive a living off the "sport". With seemingly more and more extreme protests as a ban becomes ever more likely.

Quite why these small businesses would be unable to continue after a ban is just down to lack of imagination and is a very poor way to tackle having the right to hunt fox with hounds removed from their grasp. Or for that matter would these people be unable to find employment elsewhere?

Its frankly a load of bollocks ! I am sick of the country set banging on about them being a minority. EVERYONE is a minority in something - because they live in a particular town and the rest of the UK dont, because they do a specific job and the majority of people dont, they are a specific age which the majority of people arent, or have a specific set of genetic traits. SO WHAT !!!!! They absolutely have the right to their opinion and to voice it, as do any minority whether it is politically correct of not, but this does not mean that the majority should adopt this opinion.

Shall we bring back bear baiting, or send kids up chimneys to clean them in the name of tradition ? Just because its tradition doesnt mean its right. The "good old days " aint always so hot thats why cultural norms and values have moved on.

This particular country set (because not all our rural brethren agree so lets not tar all with the same brush here) are just desparately trying to cling onto the last bastion of feudal norms and while Im sure they genuinly feel aggrieved by it, this barbaric and frankly impractical method of controlling " vermin" is not one which should be allowed to persist in any civil society.

I personally feel that they are insulting people who are truely victimised in this world and the government should have sorted this out sooner. There will, however, always be terrible things happening in the world and better times to sort it, but better late than never ! After all, if all these hunts are actually happening legally and in an organised manner, ands it participants are law abiding citizens as the pro-hunt lobby claim, then how difficult can it be to police?

In short, lets just ban it now and get on with sorting out the rest of the shit thats going on in the world.

Losing? I dont waste my time with it, Im just too busy looking good

The "right"? Don't you think animal rights come into this?

Do you honestly think it is a person's right to engage in or condone animal cruelty just because of their vested interests?

It should be an open-and-shut case. There is no moral argument for not banning fox-hunting. "People will lose their jobs" is not a moral argument -- end of.

The only reason this debate has been drawn out for so long is because of the positions of power/influence held by many participants. If fox hunting hadn't been (by and large) an 'upper class' pursuit with a load of 'history' behind it, then it would have been banned in a flash.

The quicker it's banned the better. Welcome to the fucking 21st century!

banning fox hunting ... isn't going to stop the countryside fox hunting, and therefore honest law abiding people will be breaking the law

"Honest law abiding people" ... who get a kick out of organised acts of animal cruelty...?

, the same kind of situation as using cannabis as a pain killer type scenario....

A poor comparison. Medicinal use of cannabis is (virtually) a victimless crime. Fox hunting is categorically not.

The only reason why this debate has gone on so long is because certain royals and so called 'uppercrust' folk are Pro-Hunters,did they come forward when over 100,000 miners lost their jobs? did they come forward when The criminal justice bill created a set of draconian measures that amounted to an all-out attack on alternative lifestyles and civil liberties, with stringent new laws designed to stamp out dissent, im pretty sure it was the country folk who hated the ravers turning up on farmer Bob's field (who said yes they can use it) now that the shoe is on the other foot they want to kick off. fuck em!! a few 100 people losing their jobs is nothing.

am too pissed and tired right now to make a proper comment other than that it should not be banned

there is absolutely no justification for banning it imo

and that is not coming from some1 who has ever done it or experienced it in any way

I was going to post a gag about flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality but it's just flogging a dead horse.

^ totally.

No number of jobs justifies outright animal cruelty.

how can one animal killing another animal be determined animal cruelty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it happens thousands of times all over the planet everyday.

by that justification we should all be vegetarians!!!!!!!!!! quite possibly the most stupid argument in this entire debate

Go home Ben and when there, sit in a comfortable and quite environment and think about what you have typed.

You have inexplicably formed the most ludicrous argument on this forum to date.
