Iraq war illegal, says Annan

The United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan has told the BBC the US-led invasion of Iraq was an illegal act that contravened the UN charter.

He said the decision to take action in Iraq should have been made by the Security Council, not unilaterally.

very personal view, but no matter what the UN wanted etc i still think we were right to invade iraq as saddam hussein was an evil dictator only kept in power by fear

 

tho when the war was won i don't think there was a proper strategy to control the country which has led to it turning out like it has

 

but then most attacks against US led forces are non iraqi!!! instead they are militant religious fundamentalist groups who have been led to believe this is a war against their religion, which is completely wrong. right now they are trying to uphold the peace, which can't happen if iraqi police stations are bomb targets

 

and in a lot of cases beheading captives will anger the nation they come from more than make them leave the country. These people are living in the dark ages almost, but fighting with modern weapons. it is completely wrong

 

the whole situation has spun out of control beyond what anyone could have predicted, all led by misconception
