CTW Moderators Maria Posted September 21, 2004 CTW Moderators Share Posted September 21, 2004 .. that is a form of helping someone else ? I gave a homeless person £1.01p last night to get him some tea and possibly enough for a few pennie sweets, or maybe even a packet of rizla papers. I feel good about myself for doing so, I do. I do you know. Quote ClubTheWorld.com's OFFICIAL Events Reviewer

CTW Members Alex Posted September 21, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted September 21, 2004 There's an amusing hand written in chalk note on a wall near where a beggar "begs", that says "Not all homeless are drug addicts". I'm just off now to add "Most of them are alcoholics".

CTW Promotors Lisa Posted September 21, 2004 CTW Promotors Share Posted September 21, 2004 QUOTE (Maria @ Sep 21 2004, 13:01) It's amazing how alot of people tar most other unfortunate people with the same brush. I never assume anything. well most are there for a reason & probably have a sad history to why etc, but like I say in serious issues(go look) in this day an age there is no need for so many to be sat in door ways etc & have you seen when they have a sleep over, its a laugh, barely fit one person in let alone 2 Quote Techno, Techno, Techno
Guest
QUOTE (Lisa @ Sep 21 2004, 13:08) have you seen when they have a sleep over, LMAO I just merely mean when people straight away assume ot's for smack / heroin / any kind of drugs. I guess not every homeless person is the same scenario as the next homeless person, this is what people failed to sit back and think about ! Sorry - gets on my B cups a bit
CTW Members nuthead53 Posted September 21, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted September 21, 2004 its better to actually buy the homeless person some food rather then giving them money.
Guest
I know. You are right, but he seemed very genuine to me. Didn't smell of beer and seemed very VERY polite. Maybe he wanted my body, but that's taking it one step to far in terms of GREED !
CTW Members Alex Posted September 21, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted September 21, 2004 There was a group of around 10 that used to hang around outside the APU (university) in Cambridge, all they ever asked for was money for booze or for us to go and buy them booze. Guest
Not all homeless people are acoholics though. Alot of people assume, that they are. Here, in Swansea, we have this homeless guy / tramp, who is nicknamed 'teabag' (believe it or not lol). Th emost friendliest homeless man you will ever meet. Every time I see him, he doesn't sit and beg, he doesn't have a can of beer in his hand and he doesn't get in peoples way. He just happily walks around the town centre, with his black bag over his shoulder, minding his own business. He was a headliner in the local paper round about 2 years ago. He had found a large sum of money in an envelope ibn the town centre one late night. The first thing he did was take it to the police station and was soon offered a reward of a large sum of money and he refused to accept it. CTW Members Alex Posted September 21, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted September 21, 2004 I don't really notice homeless people, until I'm asked for money or to buy them booze as they aren't allowed in the Off Licence. If I was inclined to hand money out, I would want to do it through a charity. That way I could be sure that the money I gave isn't pissed up the wall.
