homeless people

Followed on from the conversation in general disscussion, what is everyones thoughts to homeless beggers??

 

I personally think in this day & age there is no need, but I do appreciate once they are in that situation it is probably hard to get out of it, but like I say today there is many organisations etc willing to help etc

These homeless people have to want to sort themselves out first and foremost and get the help that awaits them. Only you can help yourself if you / they want it.

haha. that's quite funny. NOT in the giving-u-abuse side, just in the "turning down a free meal cos it's not up to standard" side, from someone who's sitting on the pavement.

 

guess u can work out that what that comes down to is, they may be on the street, but the street can be quite a well-off place to be.

 

Also, maybe beggers KNOW this. That generally speaking, people WILL be sympathetic to them, and will feel bad about ignoring them. Altho I usually do, and I don't feel bad about it.

Me neither, when you get asked every day for spare change, a fag or even once a bite of my snickers bar that i was eating at the time. Its starts to piss you off, especially when they are wearing better clothes than I am !

If i was a street dweller id fuck off to the south of france, I saw a tv show about a guy who did just that, he earns about 200 euros a week, legally begging and spends his day sitting on the beach smoking cheap hash. Even though i hate the french id have to give that some thought.

to much of `them`and `they` here..some of them probably havent seeked help when it was offered,some do take the piss totally,some are probably there because of there own doing but there are bound to be the one`s who have been dealt a bad deal in life and are probably decent folk.behind each homeless person is a story to tell therefore they they need to be looked at individually,it`s a shame the freeloaders have probably ruined it for the genuine one`s.

Of course they want to help themselves, it's just near impossible for them to get a foothold in society again. I donate money to shelter, and and know from talking to them that the people who work for the charity are exasperated by the lack of help and services available.

 

one of the main reason's homelessness has risen is because of Thatcher selling off council housing, so now there is very little public housing left, people on low incomes have to rent in the private sector, they are not educated on their welfare rights and get fucked around by landlords, end up homeless on the street.

 

'they need to want to help themselves' perhaps they're not halping themselves because society has let them down so many times they've given up hope and drowned themselves in drink and drugs? God some people need to have some fucking compassion and stop being so tunnel-visioned about things.
