Compeition Time !

Basically this has been bugging me for AGES now and no one seems to know the answer....

 

What does the statement "ensure you touch in and out with your oyster card for best prices mean" ?

 

And I dont want an answer of 'to get best prices'

 

Basically, surely, you have to use it in and out to get in and out !? So what does 'for best prices mean' ?

i think it means so u don't get overharged. On the DLR there are no gates so u will have to touch ur card when u get on/off without passing thru gates

I was going to post a gag about flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality but it's just flogging a dead horse.

aha! makes sense now - I assume there is some cut-off period for the charging and if you dont 'touch out' you will get charged for the most expensive journey/route possible.

Its for people with pre-pay oyster cards. They "top up" their cards with money and the money gets deducted per journey.

 

They get charged the normal price if they touch in and touch out. However, if they don't do this they will be charged more as the system doesn't know where they've either started or ended their journey.

a card which lets you prepay for journeys. all tube gates ahve a touch pad for you to get through the gates on rather than having to buy a ticket on the day.
