This is the moment when a woman was captured on CCTV lying unconscious in the gutter of a busy road, suffering from a serious head wound. Police raced to the scene after traffic was forced to swerve around the 25-year-old victim as she lay bleeding. Detectives today said they were mystified as to what happened because the unnamed woman has yet to recover sufficiently to be interviewed.

She is now in a stable condition in a south London hospital. They believe she was either attacked or run down by a car.

The woman, wearing a jacket, trousers and trainers, was discovered unconscious and bleeding profusely outside the Coca- Cola Industrial Park in Cray Road, Footscray, Sidcup at 2.15pm on Monday last week, 20 September.

Motorists drove around the woman as she lay across double yellow lines.

The CCTV images of her were taken from a number 321 bus. Police have released the picture in the hope that it will jog the memory of any witnesses and help them establish what happened. A pol ic e spokesman said: "We do not know what happened to her, which is why we need to speak to witnesses.

"She may have been hit over the head with a weapon, or she may have had her head struck against something. She may have been hit by a vehicle.

"The CCTV does not explain how she ended up lying in the road - she may have staggered into the frame."

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen any of the events, especially drivers who passed the woman and swerved to avoid colliding with her. Anyone with information should contact Bexleyheath police station on 020 8284 9131.

by the look of that, she may have fainted, and her head hit the pavement.

true. they should have called the police.

I would have thought twice or 3 times about moving her. what happens if she was infected with something, and her blood was on her. you could definitely catch something.

Difficult one this. unsure.gif

Yes I would stop and pull over but you have to be so careful what with mugging scams and such like.

but I certainly could not just drive around someone I saw lying on the road or pavement.

We stopped once when we saw a woman lying on the side of the road!

She said she'd accepted a lift of a bloke she spent the afternoon with in a pub and he'd mugged her and thrown her out of the car.

We called the police and it took them over an hour to get to us, by which time she was sobbering up and became very abusive and damn right nasty to us.

I would call the police if I saw something untoward but I would never stop again, it's just not worth it.

funny that..i was at work yesterday when i looked out the window an old woman crossing the road passed out i had to run out and pick her up with a few people who at least stopped there cars...poor woman, and instead of a woman giving her a lift in her car, she took her to the bus stop where the lady wanted to go, if i had a car i would of taken her to a&e or to her home....SOME PEOPLE HAVE NO CLUE

This can be a symtom of someone who has suffered a head injury.

Or she could just be being herself, who knows.

Your simple answer is that i would have moved her, after weighing up the situation. If the road ain't too busy you could direct traffic around her. If it is busy then move her. Ok you may cause more injury but if she got hit by another car then that would cause more.
