As a few of you might know, i'm adopted!

I was put up for adoption in October 1971, 6 months after i was born in hospital, by a woman who i never knew at all (father was a waste of space and buggered off bac to London) and so i was sent to a family who unfortunately lost their child in a car hit and run accident.

Three months ago I had a letter from a this woman, shocked me to the bone as the letter told me everything about herself.... I now have a wonderful mother, older half brother and younger half sister...... (too many birthdays!!!!!!)

the flip side of the coin is that i have just come back from my adopted mothers funeral.... very sad occasion where the whole "family" was there, cryng into their cups of tea and bourbon biscuits...... I was there trying to be the brave one of the family, but inside wanted to burst out with "BUT I HAVE A BIRTH MOTHER!!!!" but i just went depressed for a while.

I came back after sorting the finances (and the house) out, to be told that lovely Sarah PVC has passed away..... Is there a God ??

I am at this moment going to meet up with my birth mother (and family) at the Trafford Shopping Centre on 13th November (outside the UCI Cinema). I'm happy i have a family, but also depressed about everything else in life. sad.gifsad.gif

Glad to hear your birth mom has been in contact, but sad to hear about your adopted mothers death aswell. sad.gif Hope your OK and hanging in there.

You were obviously close to your adopted mum so it's ok to be upset for the loss of her life even though she wasn't your birth mother. But as some people say, when a life is lost, a new one begins (your mum getting in touch after many many years), and it seems this is the case for you really.

I hope all goes well for you with your mum though. huggles.gif

(hmmn hope my post was ok - it's pretty dificult trying to think of the words to say at this sad time for you !)

Just wanted to tell you about our experience to prove to you things will, and indeed, do, get better. Three years ago, I had a little boy, who was the best thing to happen to us. Then, when he was 12 weeks old, a routine health check showed he had a problem with his eyes. To cut a long story short, Thomas was diagnosed with Retinoblastoma, a childhood eye cancer. He has subsequently had 6 months of chemo and his right eye removed. On the day he was diagnosed, I just wanted to die and I cried for a week. But now the worst is hopefully over, I have gone back to work part time and we still club once a month!!! THINGS DO GET BETTER!! thumbsup.gif

so pleased too hear your little boy is hopefully over the worst smile.gif . that word cancer is so scary, as i know cos i had it a little while ago. then my stepdad got lung cancer, but we are both over the worst aswell. altho 1 off my best friends is having a hard time on chemo, and the outlook doesnt look good for her. feeling it for her so much, as her 1st child was knocked down by a train n killed at three n half yrs old, now shes on her own with 2 kids. there is always someone worse off somewhere
