I will probably set up a dedicated Events section one day but this is more work and I'd want to do it properly - i just dont have the time whilst I'm working

 

In the interim I'm just going to simply hack the calendar and allow people to add/remove themselves to the events there

 

Just going to keep it simple and then build upon this with 'quick wins'

ps. another thing i'll do is change the hover text on the events shown at the bottom of the forum index view - so it states who's going in a comma-delimited list

This is a good idea James..

 

I suggested a little while back that when members edit their profiles they select a region they come from... Then, if members are trying to sort a night out and want to canvass people's ideas in their own area, they could search a list .. or perhaps an automatic email distribution list could be set up for each region..?? Just brainstorming again and excuse my naievity with regards to the capability of the programs being used....

midlands

ect on most regional things u have to do

I think i would make it a little broader than the events section..

 

My suggestion would be..

 

Scotland

Northwest & north Wales

North East

Midlands

East Anglia

South West & South Wales

London & South East

 

With the other information requested in the member profile you could quickly understand the types of music, how often people want to meet and what region they come from to target a specific event at...

 

the result would be a kind of "target marketing" approach..

agree James.. i would keep it as is for now and as the member base starts to increase or evolve, change it then..

i still scroll through each area anyway but more out of interest... i think people will do the same
