I don't give a rats arse which one I go to, i expect they will both be [censored] ace. BUT we should only have one official one. And all be encouraged to go to that. (BTW XLR8 is wicked every month, been three times) and i've never been to TIDY. But I don't want to go to both in one night, as i'll probably miss the best bits of both, sitting on a [censored] tube, and if loads of people go somehere else half way through the night, it will be a bit of a bummer for those that are left.

I'm sorry, but bollocks. Why should we only have one official one ? What's wrong with variety ? When we were in Ibiza we didn't all go to the same event each night, and that worked brilliantly. As far as I'm concerned it's all about choice, I see no problem with having two or three events on the same night, people can pick the one they prefer, and not feel pressured to go to a night they're not really up for.

I feel a bit like im torn down the middle tho - I have to make an appearance at Tidy but i dont want to miss James birthday - especially as i'll be coming over 200 miles! Also, not knowing London at all i dont want to be going between the two nights on my own. HELP!

Ray i agree, when you have sufficient numbers, ie 50 -60 peopel hitting clubs with a CTW event, then two or three options will be ideal. But if onlly five or six peopel are out then you need to be a bit more selective.

I've agreed to come with you to TIDY. Start at the meeting point..DOGSTAR... DOGSTAR ...DOGSTAR DOGSTAR... DOGSTAR ...DOGSTAR DOGSTAR... DOGSTAR ...DOGSTAR DOGSTAR... DOGSTAR ...DOGSTAR in brixton, then go to the Fridge 4 XLR8, (I know Brixton like the back of my hand, so will be your guide and mentor) from XLR8 to the SE1 club, for Tidy and back for the xlr8 after Party which will again be in brixton!!

 

That way James can come to both if he want's but doen't have to worry about it, as it's his birthday.

Fair enough, but don't you think there's a danger of discouraging people meeting up if there's only one event to do it at, which may not be to their taste. In this case it does seem that there are a few people up for both, I wouldn't want people to think that they have to go to the 'official' meet-up, when the might prefer the other event.

Personally, out of the two, I'd go to the Fridge, whether it's 'official' or not.

You're Right...It's a fine balance...

 

Personally i spend my entire working life making decisions and persuading people of things, and most of my personal life likewise. When going out with non clubbing m8's, inevitably we have large debates and changes of plan about where to go. One of the cool things about CTW is that i know that if I want to go out on a particular night, i know i won't have to make any decisions, take part in debates, ring people up and persuade them, if I don't want too. Simply check out the board and turn up. If James, Kev, Sarah You and Grant (The Committee) could guarantee a good night come what may, i'd actually pay money for this service.

 

The other problem with options is that you'll assume that the one you don't go to will turn out better. So inevitably you want to go to both. Like, if you have a wicked time at The End and Frantic is shite we'll all be kicking ourselves.

Just to make it clear peeps there are no real 'official' nights - longer term we will have members arranging nights across the country (I intend to automate virtual guest lists) - no one should feel they should have to attend a specifc event - its evident that there are always going to be clashes.

 

If I had been to XLR8 3 times and not 1 Tidy event I would go Tidy regardless whether its someones birthday.

 

Yes, perhaps if we werent all into clubbing we might all want to attend a members' birthday at a specific event but the fact is we're out every weekend anyway so I'm not really thinking / treating this as 'my birthday bash' - its "XLR8" or "Tidy" not "James' Birthday" or "TIDY"

 

Simple.

 

PLEASE dont ever feel pressured into going to an event when you would rather be at a different one - everyone has different tastes. Also, its not far off that we will have multiple birthdays evey week at different parts of the country - what do you do then - you cant attend them all !

 

We are all gonna be clubbing a SERIOUS amount together so I really dont think any member would get particulalrly arsy if half the members could make their birthday - there is always next week etc!

Seconded. This site is getting better and better the more events we get organised. I'm working on getting a wider range of events organised, both in terms of music and location; Ireland and Amsterdam are definately coming soon, who's up for a trip to Australia ?!
