2 pointsAfter 11 years of waiting, Xfer Records has finally released Serum 2! The legendary wavetable synthesizer has been completely redesigned and expanded with numerous new features. While the original is known for its clear sound quality, intuitive operation and flexible sound design, the new version takes the concept to an even higher level with new features. And that’s really impressive after the first version! In addition to an improved oscillator architecture and expanded effects routing options, Serum 2 now offers an arpeggiator and clip sequencer that greatly enhance the creative workflow. Most importantly, the update is free for all existing Serum users – a move that impressively underscores Xfer Records’ promise of lifetime updates. Wow! ... 2 pointsSo as I’m back in the clubbing scene and pretty much doing them straight headed I’m getting a better insight into the DJs and sets. Im Appreciating the music, dancing like I’m in my 20s again (legs hurt a lot more after these days and I have to wear ear plugs for events due to my job 😂) is there a place you would like reviews and I could start writing some? got a lot of events planned starting with convergence this weekend (Insomniacz vs Rebooted), Goodgreef reunion in March, Tidy Weekender in April and the Gathering Festival in June. I was at back2bounce Saturday but I’ve also done Insomniacz, Passion x2, Trance Coda, Love Zoo (weirdest event and venue ever), our house warehouse Leeds and the triangle in Derby (new event) mainly seeing Lisa Pin up as she’s at every event we go to and an absolute kind soul and amazing person let me know if you would like me to write some reviews. I’m not big on getting many pics these days more videos of sets when I’m not dancing. and if anyone fancy’s any of the events let me know your welcome to join us or suggest somewhere else. much love to all.2 points -

Tidysssential @Evolution, Leeds (24th August 2003)
Tidysssential @Evolution, Leeds (24th August 2003)
ClubTheWorld reacted to Bushy for a record
1 pointSundissential North is always a special event, so coupled up with the Tidy Trax crew, you end up with one hell of a venue, one of the best atmospheres in clubland, and the people behind the scenes who really know how to throw a party!!! We arrived fairly late in the day, approx 17:30, i beleive this was due to @Mr Moo not being able to drag himself away from the mirror. We travelled up courtesy of Blu, accompanied by Moo, @Screamand @jellybabyuk. Anyone who has never been to Evolution in Leeds, it is an awesome venue, which is split into 3 rooms, upon entry you walk through into the reception/foyer which gives you the option of either room 1 to the left, or 2 to the right, Room 1 is definitely the main room, with an overlooking gallery if you fancy a chill out, or just wanna gawp down at the loonies strutting their stuff on the dancefloor. Room 2 is a circular design, with the dj box right slap bang in the middle, with rails round the main dancefloor area! Room 3, is a little bar type room, that usually holds the Funkissential line up! Once we got hold of @SarahPVC for our tickets, we got in about 18:00, and entered room 2, to which i'd dragged everyone into, due to the fact that Paul Glazby was half way through his set. As you can imagine i was gutted, but i still managed the last half hour of his set, which was enjoyed thoroughly, not, just by me, but the masses of clubbers dancing to some very nice sounds. During Paul Glazby's set, we bumped into the likes of @Chell_sat_on_a_rock, @sentialSteve, @Claire DC and @xpaulax among others, although Glazza played well, i couldn't help think that he eased a bit away from the harder material, probably due to his early slot, which is a shame. Just as God packed up his last tune @Clubbing Si and @Dani Babyboo, turned up and we made our way through to Room 1. Upon entry into Room 1, The Tidy Boys were just limbering up for the start of what was to be a 2 hour set, due to LAB4 not playing, no reason was given. So they opened up with a tune that is going down a treat everywhere at the moment.....Paul Maddox - Sunset, what a sight it was, as i looked out to the dancefloor and saw everyone with their hands held high, Andy Pickles screaming and shouting as he was hanging over the turntables in the dj box, the beat kicked in, and we never looked back. Mr Pickles and Mr Mozart took us on a 120 minute hard house marathon, on from sunset came the likes of bits and pieces to Tension, a start of light hard house and finishing their second hour with some real stompers! By now, Evolution was well and truly heaving and everyone was in euphoric moods, the heat didnt really seem to get to anyone, as free fans were given out upon entry, if you felt the need to cool yourself down! Next up, Eddie Halliwell, to tell you the truth, i am not really a fan of his, and have been less than impressed with previous performances from him, but, i have to say he shoved them doubts right down my throat, as he opened up with a really hard-techy edge to his set, which he built up well throughout and whipped the crowd into a frenzyas he seemed to get harder and harder, it was the best set of the night for me, and the clubbing loons didnt disagree much, as they gave off a aura that this was a special set! Room 1, was well and truly rocking, so was Eddie Halliwell, going mental in his little dj box, FIRING IT UP as much as the clubbers on the floor in front of him! Once that was done, up stepped Lisa Lashes - The Queen(snigger) of Hard House. Pffff. To be fair to her though, it was one of her better sets i've heard, and she held the attention of most of room 1 for the entirity of her set, as she played hard and fast, with the likes of The Hulk, recoil and full metal. So finally we come to the last set of the night. Who but Rob Tissera plays the last set at North? Well i've been 4 times now, and i can tell you this...............Nobody. Up he stepped, and placed his first piece of vinyl onto the wheels of steel, let go of the record and up started the newer remix of Faithless' 'We Come One'. The kick exploded into a frantic pace as the euphoric beginning mellowed into the distance and the place was alive with screams, shouts, whoops or however else other people could make noise, as the dancefloor went crazy! I had never seen Room 1 so busy, so rammed.....wow! Throughout his set, watching Rob Tissera, was like being in a church, Tissera was gods messenger, and the clubbers were all the beleivers following the word of the lord. To give him his due, Rob Tissera was also practising what he preached, as he was going wild up in his altar! It felt like a blink of an eye, and the music was turned down, and it was midnight, inevitably, the one more chants started almost before the volume had been completely turned down, then the mic clicked on, and this is what they said....... Who wants one more????? I tell you what........lets fuck off one more. Lets have another HALF HOUR!!!!!! And so it was to be, the devils double did another half hour to everyones delight, but much too soon that was up, and it was time to go. The last tune was played to kill everyone off i think, it was the Bootleg of Hostile, which in my eyes is stupidly hard, and is trying too much, but it went down well, as everyone begrudgingly left for wherever they were off to! Once again Sundissential delivered the goods at North. Awesome. @Bushy1 point -

Harmonic Mixing Tips for Trance Mashups
Harmonic Mixing Tips for Trance Mashups
ClubTheWorld reacted to learningtodj.com for a post in a topic
1 pointHarmonic mixing is a DJ technique that ensures smooth transitions by matching tracks based on their musical keys. It’s especially important in trance music, where melodies and emotional flow are key. Here’s what you need to know: Why Harmonic Mixing Matters: It keeps transitions smooth, avoids clashing melodies, and maintains the energy of your set. Tools to Use: The Camelot Wheel helps identify compatible keys (e.g., 8B pairs with 7B, 9B). Software like Mixed In Key automates key detection and energy analysis. Basic Techniques: Use EQ to balance frequencies during transitions, manage melodies to avoid clashes, and adjust pitch within 4% to preserve sound quality. Advanced Tips: Use mid/side EQ for track layering, set cue points for clean transitions, and organize your library by key and energy levels for live performances. View the full article1 point -

Andy Farley - King of Camden Palace
HeatUK is back at Koko, London for its 5th Birthday party this weekend - with 2 original Camden kings at the helm. They are Phil Reynolds and Andy Farley! Take us back to the first time you ever set foot in Camden Palace. What was the event and what mischief did you get up to inside the labyrinth-like venue? Its seems like such a long time ago now, but it must have been 2000, after Id taken on my Frantic residency. I think I stayed by the DJ box most of the night cause I was worried I might get lost and not be able to find my way back! Do you miss the days when you used to rock the main room at the Palace on a regular basis? Or do you prefer that its a special occasion when hard dance events do take place there? I used to love playing my residency, monthly, last set, but sadly this ended when the venue closed, so its always a great treat to come back and play here again. Its funny even though its called Koko now, everyone still calls it Camden Palace! This will be my second gig there this year, the first being Spencers slogathon of course, so am really looking forward to it Do you ever get lost in the venue these days or do you know it like the back of your hands? I know my way around now, usually know where to find my various drivers in a state in the back room ha ha! Is there one defining moment for you that you will always look back on in years to come when Camden Palace is mentioned? Theres so many for different reasons, was kind of like a home for a few years, but I guess Farleytime and Return Of The King stand out for me as they gave me opportunity to play for longer and mix it up a lot more. Whats the most inspiring set youve ever seen another DJ play at Camden Palace / Koko? Unfortunately I didnt get a lot of opportunity to catch many other peoples sets as I was nearly always arriving shortly before my set starts due to other gig commitments. However, I nearly always played after Phil and he always had the place rocking You will be returning to the venue for Heats 5th Birthday on October 14th sure to be an emotional experience for all concerned! What are your fondest memories from playing at their parties over the years? Ive always enjoyed the Heat parties, both the ones at Camden Palace & Brixton Academy, so its great to be coming back again. Theres always so many people to catch up with that I havent seen for ages, and I know theres going to be loads there for this one to. I cant believe its your 5th birthday already as well! Do you still feel you have a strong a passion for hard dance as you used to? Absolutely. Introducing different sounds into my sets has really livened things up and theres a lot of varied great music out there so yep, still loving it! Meanwhile, what are you both up to at the moment? What are you working on and whats exciting you? Ive had a busy year. Got loads of new production done, with tracks out on Tidy, Tekelec, Traffic and remixes on Elasticman Platinum and Vicious Circle. I did 5 dates over at Tidy vs Extreme at Es Paradis in Ibiza which was absolutely rocking, played at WEMF in Canada in July and also San Diego. Things looking great for the rest of the year too. Ive also been doing radio, covering for Anne Savage on her Ministry Of Sound Thursday night show which Im enjoying immensely, and gives me a chance to play a variety of music from house & Electro through techno to hard dance. Tickets See http://www.viewtickets.co.uk/club-tickets-5302.html for tickets to HeatUK's 5th Birthday at Koko in London, featuring Nick Sentience LIVE, Andy Farley, Phil Reynolds, Marc French b2b Technikal b2b Spencer Freeland, Summit vs Puzzle Project arena + much more...1 point

It's So Quiet Here These Days..
1 pointHave to agree with James and all of the above. I think the thing with CTW is that the majority of the people who come onto this bourd are die hards. Look at the reg dates, 98% are fairly old. Other sites rely on new members coming through all the time and replacing the old ones that move on elsewhere. Peoples lifestyles and tastes change. I still love dance music and the dance music scene but i'm not into clubbing anymore. As it states on my sig "retired from clubbing". It just doesn't excite me anymore. I still love coming on this site and a few of the other ones. CTW was my first clubbing forum site, and my first forum site for that matter. Sarah intorduced me to it and i was hooked instantly.1 point

Music Production Courses
James reacted to LiquidEyes for a post in a topic
1 pointIf you have lots of spare cash, and you feel like you're at a dead-end producing-wise, then by all means blow it on a course. But if you're gonna spend that kind of money, you could get a load of nice music gear instead, and spend 6 months getting to know it...1 point -
Music Production Courses
1 pointIt depends where u want to live really as to what courses there are.. if ur being pushed into doin a course then u may wana let ur parents know that if its dance music production then generally you have to pay for them and they're not cheap. There's a place in Guildford i know of, i forget its name but i was looking into that and another in Manchester www.s-s-r.com as for the one in Guildford i think @leeharris and @Chris Hawkes are at it so u could ask them!! I decided to learn myself tho by messing around, asking people i knew who are competent in it, joining forums for production www.serious-sounds.net www.generoproject.com and www.samplecity.net (although i don't go on here because its gotten a bad reputation for its webmaster bein abit of a dick and havin loadsa strict rules but im passing the link on for u to decide for urself) Try a google search for other tutorials online and seek out magazines like Computer Music, Future Music etc these also have websites that may have some useful info for u!! Also try to find a sequencer that you are comfortable with and stick with it.. know it inside out rather than knowing a lil bit about a few sequencers and ending up a jack of all trades but a master of none.1 point

ClubTheWorld reacted to CreamyC for a post in a topic
1 pointIf you are coming then please add your name to this post and it will be added to the main page. Event: ClubTheWorld Ireland Weekender Date: Friday 7th November - Sunday 9th November Details The plan for the weekend is to visit as many places as possible. On the Friday afternoon / evening will be spent checking into accommodation and settle you all in. We'll then go out for drinks in Ballymena Town or Belfast (Plenty of bars, small clubs, etc). On Saturday afternoon we can maybe go shopping in Belfast city centre for a few hours. Then come back to Ballymena and all go out for a meal and a few drinks, then proceed to whatever club is chosen. Sunday would be chilling out in the local pub having a few drinks before everyone heads home. MEET-UP INFORMATION Friday (Night) Meet-up Venue: The Grouse Pub, corner of Ballymoney Street / Springwell Street Time: 7pm Clubs: Will be decided on the night Saturday Meet-Up Venue: The Nobel Cafe, Church Street Time: 12 Midday Saturday (Night) Meet-up Venue: The Spinning Mill Pub, Broughshane Street Time: 6.30pm Clubs: To be decided on the night Sunday Meet-Up Venue: The Spinning Mill Pub, Broughshane Street Time: 2pm Club Suggestions: From Liam Styles LUSH! in Portrush is N.Irelands most popular club. An outstanding venue, with a great crowd and excellent, varied line ups. I visit this club regularly and love it so much. Guest DJs that have played in the last month or two include: Erick Morillo, Mauro Picotto, Judge Jules, King Unique, Futureshock, Dave Seaman, Guy Ornadel and Darren Emerson. Check www.kellys-portrush.com for more info, pics and line ups. SHINE is situated in Belfast and is held in the Queens University Student Union. It is N.Irelands best techno night and has a massive following. The venue isnt the best, but it is massive with 3 good sized rooms all playin different styles on rotation. Main room is usually techno, 2nd room a bit housier and the 3rd drum n bass or hip hop. Personally this is my favourite club as they always bring new DJs over aswell as the techno elite. Regular guests include: Riche Hawtin, Adam Beyer, Marco Bailey, DJ Rush, Cristian Smith, Jon Carter, Lottie, Fabio, Grooverider, Tim Westwood. Check www.shine.net for more info, listings, pics etc. THE MET in Armagh, a more straight up trance / hard trance night in a massive venue with awesome light displays and soundsystem. The venue is split into 3 tiers but all in one arena. Again THE MET has an unbelievable crowd, always packed and always friendly. New up and coming DJs from this country sit aside some of the worlds top DJs, the resident DJ is also very good. Recent Guest DJs: Lisa Lashes, JFK, Scot Project, Petrae Foy, Signum, Fergie (who is a monthly resident). Godskitchen also hold official nights at this venue. www.metarena.com THE COACH is in Banbridge, and is a mainly Hard trance / hard house club. Not beeen to it many times but the few times i have been i have had a good night. A few pikeys attend though. Usual DJs such as: Judge Jules, Scot Bond, Jon Kelly, Scot Project, Lisa Lashes. www.coachniteclub.com ENIGMA is a ver new club and is actually just past the border into Southern Ireland. I havent been as yet, but have heard really good things about it. Capacity is around 4,000. Its a brand spanking new club, with wicked light show, awesome soundsystem and fresh DJs. Guests so far have included: The Tidy Boys, Disco Bros, Paul Glazby, Phil Reynoylds, Spencer Freeland, Nick Raferty, Mark Kavanah, Jay Pigeon, A*, Scot Project. THE NETWORK is N.Irelands most established after hours. Its very dingy but thats what makes it so good. Line up is never known, but usually its a visiting DJ who has been playin one of the other clubs in the country that night. (probs from THE MET or THE COACH) expect the likes of Fergie, Lisa Lashes, Dave Pearce, Eddie Halliwell. HOW TO GET THERE By Air: Good flight prices can be found by checking www.easyjet.com for flight details (most English airports) or www.mytravelite.com (Birmingham). These are the two main lowcost airlines that fly into Belfast. When booking please insure that you book "Belfast International Airport" as your destination as there is a "Belfast City Airport" also. Obviously the earlier you book the cheaper the flight, so it would be advisable to book in advance. By Car: You can travel by car to Belfast by Ferry. A whole list of Ferry crossing and a variety of companies that provide services over to Belfast can be found here. By Coach: Coaches are available at very reasonable prices from most major places in the UK. Coach journeys include the Ferry across to Belfast Terminal. More information can be found at www.nationalexpress.co.uk. Advanced bookings (30 days) do work out cheape. OTHER INFORMATION Website: www.ClubTheWorld.com Accommodation: There is one main hotel in Ballymena, it is reasonably priced but also very nice. Its a very central location and in the centre of town. Prices are as follows (price is correct at time of this page going up - 14th August 2003) Double / twin room: £50 per night Single room: £35 per night You can also check their website www.adairarms.com for more information. Alternatively, Ballymena has lots of B&B's. LiamStyles has kindly visited a number of them over the last week and all seem to be of a high standard. The majority of them are all located near each other and close to the town. Most of them are quite small so all attendees may not be able to stay in the same B&B. As they are usually small, family run business websites are not available. But if you require more information please call LiamStyles on 07745358810. All these B&Bs have quoted a price of around £15 per person per night which is very reasonable. If you would like to join us for this weekender then please add your name to the dedicated post on the foums here. More Information: Please contact either @CreamyC OR @LiamStyles by email at CreamyC@ClubTheWorld.com / PM via ClubTheWorld.com Forums or text / call 07956 462 642. 1 pointJames, I think you have made some fair comments. I havnt been on as much as i used to, but i logged on the other day and there was one post in particular that really annoyed me. There was a competition in which you offerd free lyear vip passes to the person to come up with the best name for the new ctw night. after about 10-12 posts, there was a notice saying it had already been decided!!! Why bother asking?! This is exactly the sort of thing which annoys people. As you know, a similar thing happend with ibiza (i dont want to go over old ground here) and yes i understand all the reasons why, but it was somthing i didnt agree with. I think what im trying to say is that the site needs to be carful how they word things like this in future. just felt like i had to mention it thats all x1 point -

1 pointSeriously, I think the Smut Forum is a great idea. Nice to have a site that is aimed at adults (doesn't censor swear-words in posts, etc...) There's a place for serious talk (some of the debates & chats are very thought-provoking), and a place for light-heartedness (smut/joke forums etc). The best thing is that you encourage "newbies" to meet up with you. What James said is very inspiring - it's nice to know there are other people like me who are actively looking to make more friends. So many people are just happy to hang out with the same people all the time. I moved to London a couple of years ago after graduating, and it's only over the last few months (after splitting up from a long-term g/f, basically) that I realised, I don't actually have many friends down here. To top it off I was made redundant and all my mates from work moved away to new jobs. But, I love the clubbing scene and I don't want to leave London ... it's just frustrating I hardly have any mates to go clubbing with! 😢 What is worse than Friday night yearning to party and socialise and dance ... and you're on your tod at home!! I'm quite a confident person but going out on your own is still daunting ... even though some clubs are very friendly and you can meet really nice people in there. Every now and then I take some contact details for some cool people I've met in clubs, with every intention of meeting up again some time, but this hasn't happened much in London. It seems kinda sad, especially after two years, and ironically in a city with so many people! It's been quite depressing actually, but I've realised, the reason I don't have many friends isn't because there's something wrong with me, it's just because of circumstances. I used to have a huge circle of friends at university and I'm still the same person now! If you're into keeping fit then you join a gym and meet people through that. If you like choral music then you join a choir. So I used to think, damnit, why can't I join a clubbing society and meet people who are also mad about music and going out? They had one at uni, so why can't they have one in London? So all in all, this site is a great idea. Very professional and well thought-out too. My advice is: keep being nice to newbies and keep organising social events! One other thing, after my first meet-up last night, it's great that not everyone seems to have the "hardcore caner" mentality. You know, when you chat to randoms in clubs and all they seem to talk about is how many nights they've larged it on the trot / how many different substances they've taken / blah blah. Not really what clubbing's about if you ask me. Not that there's anything wrong with utterly caning it from time to time!! That was the only thing I was apprehensive about, and that I would be out of place as a more "casual" clubber. Not so, I'm pleased to say! Right, er, end of ramble, sorry!! /images/graemlins/flash.gif1 point -
